Class party games pack

Everything here works with a class of thirty in one room, needs almost no kit, and can be stopped mid-game when the bell goes.

In the print dialogue, choose "Save as PDF" as the destination to keep a copy.

How to use it

  • Print one copy for yourself and one for any helping adult.
  • Pick three games plus a calm finisher - that fills about seventy minutes with food.
  • Read the rules out once, demonstrate once, then start.

Running order

  • 0-10 mins: settling activity - drawing sheets or a word search on each table.
  • 10-40 mins: three games from the list below, ten minutes each.
  • 40-55 mins: food, seated, bins out first.
  • 55-70 mins: calm finisher while bags and coats are collected.

The games

  • Table quiz - five rounds of five, teams by table. Needs: questions, paper. 15 minutes.
  • Charades - one child per table acts, table guesses. Needs: word list. 10 minutes.
  • Heads down thumbs up - three at the front, everyone else heads down. Needs: nothing. 10 minutes.
  • Silent ball - stand up, throw, sit down if you talk or drop it. Needs: soft ball. 10 minutes.
  • Musical statues - the last one still wins. Needs: music. 8 minutes.
  • Classroom treasure hunt - six clues taped around the room. Needs: printed clues. 12 minutes.

Calm finishers

  • Sleeping lions - last one still wins.
  • A story or a chapter read aloud.
  • Draw your favourite thing about this year, on one sheet each.
  • Class quiz answers read out, with prizes given at the door.

Before the day

  • Ask for the class allergy list in writing and check the school nut policy.
  • Bring individually wrapped food rather than shared bowls.
  • Stickers and pencils for prizes rather than sweets.
  • Confirm with the teacher who is supervising and when the room must be clear.
