Sleepover games pack

The order matters more than the games. This pack runs loud, then quiet, then dark, so the evening ends somewhere near sleep.

In the print dialogue, choose "Save as PDF" as the destination to keep a copy.

How to use it

  • Print one copy and keep it in the kitchen, not in the room with the children.
  • Announce the lights-off time when everyone arrives, then again at pyjama time.
  • Skip anything running around after 9pm, however much they beg.

Timeline

  • 4pm arrivals and one loud game while everyone lands.
  • 6pm food.
  • 7pm two middle games at the table.
  • 8pm pyjamas, then torch games with the lights off.
  • 9.30-10pm lights off and one wind-down activity lying down.

Loud games

  • Sock wrestling - pull off everyone else's socks. Two minutes maximum.
  • Balloon keepy-uppy against the clock.
  • Freeze dance with one adult on the music.
  • Minute-to-win-it: cup stacking, biscuit face, straw and sweets.

Middle games

  • Charades from a printed list.
  • Would you rather - ten daft dilemmas read out.
  • Consequences drawings - fold the paper and pass it on.
  • Blindfold taste test with allergy-checked snacks.

Torch games and wind-down

  • Torch tag or hide and seek indoors, lights off.
  • Shadow puppet competition against a plain wall.
  • Sardines - one hides, finders join them.
  • Two truths and a lie, lying down in the dark.
  • Sleeping lions, then an audiobook or a familiar film.
